Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 April 2026

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the MyMua platform. By creating an account or using any part of our service you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use MyMua.

1.Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and MyMua Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“MyMua”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By registering for an account, accessing, or using any part of the MyMua platform (mymua.net) — whether as a client or as a makeup artist — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the platform constitutes ongoing acceptance.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, makeup artists, and any other persons who access or use the platform in any way.

2.Description of Service

MyMua is an online marketplace that connects clients in the United Kingdom with professional freelance makeup artists (“MUAs” or “Artists”). Our platform enables clients to discover, compare, and book Artists, and enables Artists to list their services, manage availability, accept bookings, and receive payments.

MyMua is a marketplace intermediary, not a party to the service contract. When a client books an Artist through MyMua, a direct contract for the provision of makeup services is formed between the client and the Artist. MyMua is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of any makeup services performed.

MyMua provides, but does not guarantee continuous access to:

  • Artist profile pages, portfolios, and search/discovery tools
  • A booking and scheduling system
  • Secure payment processing via Stripe
  • A client-to-artist messaging system
  • A verified review and rating system
  • A dashboard for Artists to manage their bookings and services

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice, without liability to you.

3.Eligibility & Accounts

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use MyMua. By registering, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or over and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Account registration

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You may hold one account per person. Creating multiple accounts or accounts on behalf of another person without their consent is prohibited.

Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at legal@mymua.net if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account. MyMua is not liable for any loss arising from your failure to keep credentials secure.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if required to do so by law. You may close your account at any time via your dashboard settings or by contacting us at legal@mymua.net.

4.Artist Responsibilities

By registering as a makeup artist on MyMua, you agree to the following obligations. Failure to comply may result in account suspension or removal from the platform.

Accurate and up-to-date listings

  • You must ensure that all information on your profile is truthful, accurate, and not misleading — including your name, location, specialisms, qualifications, years of experience, services offered, and pricing.
  • Portfolio photographs must be your own genuine work. You must not upload images that belong to another artist or that misrepresent your skills.
  • You must keep your availability calendar up to date. Accepting bookings for dates you are unavailable is a breach of these Terms.
  • If your pricing changes, you must update your listings before accepting new bookings at the new rate. You may not charge clients more than the price displayed at the time of booking.

Attending confirmed bookings

  • Once a booking is confirmed and payment has been processed, you are contractually obligated to attend and deliver the agreed service to the client.
  • If you are unable to fulfil a confirmed booking, you must cancel through the MyMua platform as early as possible and issue any applicable refund promptly.
  • Repeated no-shows or late cancellations without valid reason may result in your account being suspended or removed from the platform.

Professional conduct

  • You must treat all clients with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
  • You must comply with all applicable UK laws relevant to your services, including health and safety regulations and any licensing requirements for your specialism.
  • You are solely responsible for your own tax obligations arising from income received through MyMua. MyMua does not employ Artists and is not responsible for your tax or National Insurance contributions.

No off-platform payments

You must not solicit or accept payments from clients outside the MyMua platform for services booked through MyMua. Circumventing the platform payment system is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination.

5.Client Responsibilities

By booking an Artist through MyMua, you agree to the following:

Accurate information

  • You must provide accurate contact details and any information relevant to your booking (e.g. event date, location, skin type, allergies, or special requirements) at the time of booking or when requested by the Artist.
  • You must disclose any skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities before your appointment. MyMua and the Artist are not liable for reactions arising from information you failed to disclose.

Attending bookings

  • You must arrive for your appointment on time and be ready to receive the service at the agreed time and location.
  • If you are late without prior notice, the Artist is entitled to reduce the scope of the service to fit the remaining time without any reduction in the agreed price.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, you must do so through the MyMua platform as early as possible. Refunds are subject to the Artist's cancellation policy as described in Section 6.

Respectful conduct

You must treat Artists with courtesy and professionalism. Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour towards any Artist is a breach of these Terms and may result in your account being suspended.

Reviews

Reviews you leave on MyMua must be honest, based on your genuine experience, and must not contain false statements, defamatory content, or personal attacks. MyMua reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms.

No off-platform payments

You must not make or offer to make payments to Artists outside the MyMua platform for bookings originated through MyMua. All payments must go through our secure Stripe checkout to ensure both parties are protected.

6.Payments & Refunds

Platform fee

MyMua charges a 10% platform fee on every booking. This fee is deducted automatically at the point of payment via Stripe Connect. Artists receive the remaining 90% of the booking value, transferred directly to their connected Stripe account on Stripe's standard payout schedule (typically 2–7 business days after a booking is confirmed).

Payment processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. By making or receiving a payment through MyMua you agree to be bound by Stripe's Terms of Service . MyMua does not store card numbers or bank account details.

Refund policy

Artist-initiated cancellation

If an Artist cancels a confirmed booking, the client is entitled to a full refund of the amount paid, including the platform fee. MyMua will process this refund within 5–10 business days.

Client-initiated cancellation

Refunds for client-initiated cancellations are at the Artist's discretion and subject to their stated cancellation policy on their profile. MyMua strongly encourages Artists to operate a fair cancellation policy. The 10% platform fee is non-refundable where a client cancels after a booking is confirmed, unless the Artist chooses to waive it.

No-show by the Artist

If an Artist fails to attend a confirmed booking without cancelling in advance, the client is entitled to a full refund. Please contact us at support@mymua.net with evidence and we will investigate and process the refund.

Disputes

In the event of a payment dispute between a client and an Artist, MyMua may investigate and make a reasonable determination, but is not obligated to do so and is not responsible for the outcome of any dispute.

Chargebacks

If a client initiates a chargeback through their bank or card provider, MyMua reserves the right to debit the relevant Artist's Stripe balance to the extent permitted by Stripe's policies. Fraudulent chargebacks are a breach of these Terms.

7.Pro Subscription

Artists may upgrade to the MyMua Pro plan to access enhanced platform features.

Pricing and billing

  • The Pro plan is priced at £9.99 per month, billed monthly in advance on the date you first subscribe.
  • The 10% commission on bookings continues to apply in addition to the monthly subscription fee.
  • Payment is taken automatically each month via the card or payment method on file with Stripe. It is your responsibility to keep your payment details up to date.
  • All amounts are in Great British Pounds (GBP) and are inclusive of applicable VAT where required.

Cancellation

  • You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your artist dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you will retain Pro benefits until that date.
  • No refunds are issued for partial months remaining after cancellation.
  • If your subscription payment fails (e.g. due to an expired card), MyMua will attempt to retry the charge. If payment cannot be collected within a reasonable period, your Pro access will be suspended until payment is made.

Pro benefits

Active Pro subscribers receive: a Pro badge on their profile, boosted placement in search results, priority in the featured artists section, early access to new platform features, and priority customer support. MyMua reserves the right to modify the benefits included in the Pro plan with reasonable notice.

Price changes

MyMua reserves the right to change the Pro subscription price. We will provide at least 30 days' written notice (by email to your registered address) before any price increase takes effect. Continued subscription after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

8.Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is strictly prohibited on the MyMua platform. Violation may result in immediate account suspension, permanent termination, and/or legal action.

  • Fraud and misrepresentation — providing false information, impersonating another person, creating fake profiles, or misrepresenting your qualifications or work.
  • Off-platform payments — soliciting, accepting, or making payments outside the MyMua platform for bookings that originated on MyMua.
  • Fake reviews — submitting, soliciting, or incentivising false or misleading reviews, whether positive or negative.
  • Harassment and abuse — harassing, threatening, intimidating, or engaging in any form of discriminatory behaviour towards other users, Artists, or MyMua staff.
  • Illegal activity — using the platform for any purpose that is unlawful under UK or applicable law, including money laundering, tax evasion, or facilitating illegal services.
  • Spam and unsolicited communications — sending unsolicited commercial messages to other users through the messaging system.
  • Automated access and scraping — using bots, scrapers, crawlers, or any automated means to access, extract, or copy data from the platform without our prior written consent.
  • Circumventing security — attempting to bypass, disable, or interfere with any security feature, authentication system, or access control on the platform.
  • Infringing content — uploading content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party, including photos you do not own or have rights to use.
  • Minors — registering as a user if you are under 18, or facilitating the use of the platform by anyone under 18.

9.Intellectual Property

MyMua's intellectual property

The MyMua name, logo, platform design, software, and all associated content produced by MyMua are the exclusive intellectual property of MyMua Ltd and are protected by UK copyright, trade mark, and other applicable laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you upload to MyMua (including portfolio photos, profile text, and messages). By uploading content, you grant MyMua a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to reasonable technical delays.

You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to all content you upload, and that your content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.

10.Limitation of Liability

Platform intermediary

MyMua is a marketplace platform. We do not employ Artists, and we are not a party to the service contract between a client and an Artist. We are not responsible for and do not guarantee the quality, safety, suitability, timeliness, or legality of any makeup services performed by Artists listed on the platform.

Disclaimer of warranties

The MyMua platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MyMua makes no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Cap on liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyMua's total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the greater of:

  • £100, or
  • the total fees paid by you to MyMua (platform fees or Pro subscription fees) in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Exclusion of consequential loss

In no event shall MyMua be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption — however caused, even if MyMua has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law, or any rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

11.Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or their subject matter or formation.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable UK law.

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

12.Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email to your registered address and/or by posting a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. If you continue to use MyMua after the effective date of updated Terms, you accept the changes. If you do not accept the new Terms, you must stop using the platform and may close your account at any time.
